Families with Teenagers Safari Experience

Travelling with kids can be a rewarding experience! The Families with Teenagers Safari in Madikwe Game Reserve is an exciting and affordable family travel package for parents with 1 or 2 teenagers and/or a smaller child (6-11 years). This malaria free destination is ideal for a quick getaway to a premier Big Five wildlife zone.

The game lodge is luxurious yet kid friendly, with passionate and dedicated staff to see to everything. You’ll enjoy family fun and relaxation with activities to suit all ages. Your children can learn about bush craft, tracking animals and what it takes to become a game ranger. Little ones can get busy decorating cookies and making pizza amongst many other fun activities.

At this game lodge in Madikwe, you can go on safe family friendly game drives after breakfast. Alternately, adults and children 6 years and older can go on the regular early morning and late afternoon game drives into Big Five territory. Back at the lodge, you can explore the facilities and perhaps visit the health spa or simply snooze by your private pool.

Day 1: Johannesburg - Madikwe Game Reserve

This morning there will be a Meet and Greet service at O.R. Tambo International Airport before your light aircraft flight to Madikwe airstrip. On landing you will be welcomed and taken on a 10 minute 4x4 road transfer to the game lodge in Madikwe Game Reserve.

Depending on your time of arrival, lunch will be available after check-in. You and your family can unpack, relax, and explore the lodge and its facilities. After tea, the evening game drive sets off. There will be a stop along the way for sundowners before the drive back to the lodge for dinner. On this return journey your ranger will use a spotlight for nocturnal game viewing.

Day 2 & 3: Madikwe Game Reserve

Your days begin early, with a wake-up call before the morning game drive. The game drives are around 3 hours long and there will be a refreshment stop en route. Madikwe Game Reserve is home to the Big Five – Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard as well as Cheetah and Wild Dog among many other fascinating animals.

When you return to the lodge, a delicious breakfast will be waiting. Afterwards your time is your own, to perhaps go on a guided bush walk or enjoy a soothing spa treatment. While you are relaxing your kids can learn a number of bush skills, such as making a fire, finding water and how to navigate in the bush. Bug CSI is also a great way to learn about smaller creatures that live around the lodge, alternatively, there are lots of games and crafty activities to do.

The evening game drive departs after tea and you will have more opportunities to see animals that you may not yet have come across. When you return to the lodge, you will have time to freshen up before dinner in the boma (traditional outdoor enclosure). Later you could enjoy star-gazing and a talk about the constellations.

Day 4: Madikwe Game Reserve - Johannesburg (Madikwe Safari Lodge)

This is the final day of your Madikwe safari. You can enjoy one last game drive before breakfast and check-out. There will be a road transfer back to the Madikwe airstrip so you can connect with your return flight to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport.

Fly-In Option

This Madikwe fly-in package is calculated for 2 adults travelling together with 1 or 2 children (between 6-15 years old) and staying in a triple room or in 2 double rooms. A light aircraft flight ex/to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International airport is included.

Rates are valid for 2012 / 2013 but may vary depending on the season and daily currency exchange rate. If you want to stay longer with your family, days can be extended.
