Unfortunately children under the age of 6 are not allowed on game drives. They can however, participate in Thakadu's kiddies program. They can look forward to bug walks, bird and butterfly watching and learning more about the surrounding nature.

Babysitters are available for when parents want to enjoy some quiet time or a romantic dinner under the starry African sky. Look forward to delicious meals served in the traditional boma (outdoor enclosure) or in the dining area. Children can join their parents for meals and special kiddie meals are available.

Guests enjoying their malaria-free safari in South Africa at Thakadu River Camp can sit back and relax at the pool area or enjoy sundowners at the bar while watching the sun set over the African bush. Children can enjoy their own special game drive where they will bird spotting, track identification and spoor moulding.

Please note: Children between 18months and 3 years must be accompanied by an adult.Children over 3 will be accompanied by a nanny. Babies under the age of 18 months may not be taken on the kiddies drives unless the drives do not visit any of the Big Five sightings.
