Need a family break? You can't go wrong with the Madikwe Family Safari Trip package. You can create memories that last while on a child-friendly safari in Madikwe Game Reserve. This South African lodge has an informal style, intimate atmosphere and caring staff to make you feel most welcome.

This exciting and affordable family travel package includes return road transfers from Johannesburg or Pretoria to the lodge, so you'll be spending quality family time together. You'll be accommodated with your children in the main building, so there are no long walks back and forth. Your Madikwe lodge overlooks an active waterhole.

Madikwe is a Big Five game reserve and you'll be able to see a wide variety of animals on morning and afternoon game drives. Parents can enjoy safari activities knowing that their young children will be entertained and looked after. There is a pool in the pretty gardens and you'll enjoy African inspired meals and tasty treats for High Tea.

Once you have settled in, the lodge staff will talk to you and your children about the activities and kid's programme in order to create the best experience. Parents can enjoy the afternoon game drive and then return to the lodge for a family dinner.

Madikwe Game Reserve has one of the largest Elephant populations, all the predators, as well as the endangered Wild Dog, Black and White Rhino, Buffalo and general plains game. Bird life is abundant. Evening game drives provide an excellent opportunity to spot nocturnal wildlife.

Day 1: Johannesburg/Pretoria - Madikwe Game Reserve

This morning there will be private road transfer arranged for you and your family from either Johannesburg or Pretoria to your game lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve. This road trip takes approximately 4 hours. Upon arrival at the lodge there will be a welcome drink, check-in and a tour of the facilities.The shady garden is great for informal games of cricket or soccer, and the pool offers a cool respite on hot days. Kids can paint and play together, watch a nature movie or DVD, amongst other activities on the programme. After High Tea, mom and dad will once again set off on an afternoon game drive, returning in time for a family dinner in the boma (traditional outdoor enclosure).

Day 2: Madikwe Game Reserve

Families with small children will start the morning with breakfast together, followed by a short child-friendly game drive. Your ranger will point out various animals and focus the excursion on finding non-dangerous species to observe. You'll return to the lodge for refreshments and leisure time followed by lunch.

Day 3: Madikwe Game Reserve - Johannesburg/Pretoria

This is the final day of your family safari in Madikwe Game Reserve. There will be a morning game drive for mom and dad followed by a family breakfast. After check-out, you will be transferred by road back to Johannesburg or Pretoria, arriving in the afternoon.

This 3 Day package is calculated for a family of 4 with a child under 5 and a child from 6-11 years. The package includes a road transfer in a comfortable sedan ex/to Johannesburg or Pretoria (on a daily basis with no set departure days).
