The Get the Personal Touch package allows you to enjoy an exclusive safari while staying at an elegant lodge, in the private malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. The reserve is situated on the border with Botswana. It has abundant wildlife and you can try and spot all the members of the Big Five, as well as Cheetah and Wild Dog while on your guided game drives.
Day 1: Johannesburg - Madikwe Game Reserve
Flight into Madikwe. On the first day of your tour, you will be met by your friendly pilot at O.R. Tambo International Airport where you will board a light aircraft flight to the Madikwe airstrip. Upon landing, you will be met by your guide and driven to the lodge. This drive is a great introduction to some of the regions spectacular wildlife. You will have time to settle into your private and luxurious suite, and depending on what time you arrive, you will enjoy a refreshing lunch.
In the afternoon, after tea, you will set out on an exciting game drive. This will be led by your knowledgeable guide who will help you track down the wildlife including, the "super seven" - Lion, Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino and Leopard as well as Cheetah and Wild Dog.
Discover the many animals of the reserve while on twice daily game drives, guided by an expert ranger who will tell you more about their habits. In the evenings you will enjoy delicious candlelight dinners out in the boma under the stars.
Day 2 - 3: Madikwe Game Reserve
You will spend the next 2 days exploring the beautiful Madikwe Game Reserve. After an early wake-up call you will enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, before heading out on your morning game drive. The Madikwe Game Reserve has many diverse habitats, and you may see desert adapted animals such as Oryx (Gemsbok), as well as antelope more typical of the savannah such as Zebra.
Your guide will stop in a suitable spot for you to stretch your legs and have a cup of tea before continuing on. You may come across Wild Dogs, one of Africa's most endangered predators. Returning to the lodge you will savour a sumptuous breakfast. You will then have some time to relax and perhaps have a spa treatment in your suite (optional). The beautiful rim-flow pool is also the ideal spot to cool off during the heat of the day.
After a late lunch you will once again head into the reserve to see what wildlife you encounter; maybe an Elephant feeding; or a glimpse of Cheetah hunting. You'll stop and enjoy sundowners in the reserve and watch as the sun slips below the horizon. In the evening you will delight in a delicious Pan- African style meal served out under the stars (weather permitting).
