Etali Safari Lodge is situated in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve in the North West Province, South Africa. Guests can access Etali easily by road or air. The drive from Johannesburg will take about 3 and a half hours. The flight from Johannesburg will take about 50 minutes.
How to get to Etali
Directions from Johannesburg, South Africa
Drive from Johannesburg to Magaliesburg along the N14 and the R24. From Magaliesburg, take the R509 through Derby to Koster. Turn right in Koster to Swartruggens and continue straight through Swartruggens towards Groot Marico and Zeerust. You don't actually pass through Groot Marico.
After entering Zeerust, keep straight until you see a sign for Gaberone / Madikwe Game Reserve. Turn right there. Continue on this road through two rural villages and past Madikwe Road Takeaways (a store and filling station) and past Nietverdiend (a store, filling station and police station). Continue on this road until you get the Abjagterskop Gate for Madikwe Game Reserve on your right. Turn right into the reserve.
Directions from Pretoria, South Africa
From Pretoria take the N4 to Rustenburg, Swartruggens and Zeerust. At the next stop street, President Street, at FNB you'll find the sign (on the left of the road) indicating you need to turn right to Gabarone and Madikwe.
Turn right and continue for 86km (53.43 miles).
Turn right into the Abjaterskop Gate into the reserve.
Follow the signs to Derdepoort gate (make sure you follow the curve to the left at the Parksboard buildings with the green water tank).
When you have passed the Tsukudu dam on your left, you will see a brick wall on the right with an Etali Safari sign to turn left.
From there follow the Etali Safari signs. The lodge is 28km (17.39 miles) from the gate.
