Getting to Royal Madikwe
Directions from OR Tambo International Airport
From OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg), take the R24 towards Johannesburg. At Gilloolys interchange, take the N3 north to Pretoria. At the Buccleuch interchange, continue straight at the fork onto the N1 south signposted Roodepoort / Bloemfontein.
Take the M5 Randburg (Byers Naude turn off) and turn right towards Muldersdrift. Continue along this road until you reach the N14 / R28 Krugerdorp Highway. Take the on-ramp to Krugersdorp. Continue until you reach a major 4-way stop. Turn right at the stop. The sign reads Tarlton / Ventersdorp (N14).
Continue for about 10km (6.21 miles) and turn right at the T-junction. Take the first left onto the Ventersdorp N14 and continue for about 11km (6.83 miles). At the 4-way stop, turn left onto the R509 towards Derby / Koster / Swartruggens. As you enter Koster, turn right at the Swartruggens signpost.
Continue and turn left onto the Zeerust Road at the t-junction. Travel through Swartruggens and go through the Swartruggens toll gate. Do not turn at any Marikwe signs before you enter Zeerust town itself. At the fourth intersection in Zeerust, turn right at the sign indicating the R47 to Gabarone / Madikwe.
Continue along this road for about 90km (.92 miles) and look for the Wonderboom Gate into the Madikwe Game Reserve. The gate will be situated on your right. Wonderboom Gate is the second gate. Do not turn into the first gate (Abjaterskop Gate). Continue through the gate and take the first right after Bush House situated on your left. Continue until you see Royal Madikwe situated on your left.
