Thakadu River Camp is located in the eastern sector of the Madikwe Game Reserve, South Africa. The main camp is situated between the Marico River and a small tributary of the Marico River. The Madikwe Game Reserve is home to a diverse range of African fauna and flora. Guests can easily access Thakadu River Camp by road or air.
How to get there
Directions from OR Tambo International Airport
Guests should take the R21 towards Pretoria and then take the N1 North to Polokwane. Continue along the N1 North and after the Zambezi Road turnoff, take the N4 towards Rustenberg.
After the town of Brits, look for the R556 Sun City Resort / Pilanesbeg turnoff. Follow the signs to Sun City Resort / Pilanesberg.
This is about 76km (47.22 miles). Continue pass Sun City Resort for about 8km (4.97 miles) until you reach a T-Junction.
Turn right onto the R565 towards Derdepoort and continue for about 9km (5.59 miles) and turn left to Bapong. Follow the road through Mabeskraal Village until you reach a 4 way stop at the end of Mabeskraal Village. Turn right towards Derdepoort. After about 24km (15.53 miles) the tar road will end.
Continue straight through Molatedi Village where you will see the signs for Thakadu River Camp. Continue for about 4km (2.48 miles) to reach the gate. You will pass a cattle gate on your way to the main gate. Please open and close the gate.
