Wildlife Safari at Thakadu River Camp

The diversity in the Madikwe Game Reserve allows for exciting game drives and bird watching opportunities on your malaria-free safari in South Africa.

A wide range of exciting Madikwe safari activities awaits guests staying at Thakadu River Camp during their malaria-free safari in South Africa. Experience an African safari game drive in the open safari vehicles. Guests can also look forward to walking safaris, wildlife tracking and star gazing.

Guests enjoying their malaria-free safari in South Africa at Thakadu River Camp can sit back and relax at the pool area or enjoy sundowners at the bar while watching the sunset over the African bush.

Children on Safari

Unfortunately, children under the age of 6 are not allowed on game drives. They can, however, participate in Thakadu's kiddies safari program. They can look forward to bug walks, bird and butterfly watching and learning more about the surrounding nature.

Babysitters are available when parents want to enjoy some quiet time or a romantic dinner under the starry African sky. Look forward to delicious meals served in the traditional boma (outdoor enclosure) or in the dining area. Children can join their parents for meals and special kiddie meals are available.

Children can enjoy their own special game drive where they will do bird spotting, track identification and spoor moulding.

Please note: Children between 18 months and 3 years must be accompanied by an adult. Children over 3 will be accompanied by a nanny. Babies under the age of 18 months may not be taken on the kiddie's drives unless the drives do not visit any of the Big Five sightings.
